Day 9, we crossed another branch of Bull Lake Creek and then on to Alpine Lake, legendary for its large cutthroat trout. The water at Alpine was high, and I found the wild onions growing in 4 inches of water this year. It's (legally) poached trout with wild onions for dinner.  Day 10 was a somewhat grueling hike to Steamboat Lake, a bit over 10 miles, and we were in camp at about 5:30.
