Popular trailhead in Gallatin Canyon. The dirt road to the trailhead goes through the Ted Turner ranch where you can see bison with ear tags.
    The hike itself is filled with a variety of wildflowers including several kinds of orchids. Go past Pioneer Falls to an open meadow for a nice view.

Date of hike: Aug 20, 2011, a wet year with late spring.
